Gym Rules

School rules for training, plus safety and hygiene expectations for everyone on the mats.

  1. PUNCTUALITY. Arrive on time for training. Being late disrupts the class and shows lack of respect.
  2. RESPECTFUL GREETINGS. Always greet coaches and teammates when entering and leaving the mat.
  3. CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE. Stay attentive during instruction. Avoid unnecessary talking while techniques are being taught.
  4. APPROPRIATE ATTIRE. Clean uniform must be worn at all times.
  5. UNIFORM MAINTENANCE. Keep your gi clean and in good condition. Belt must be tied properly.
  6. GI COLORS. Only approved gi colors are allowed.
  7. SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS. Avoid dangerous or uncontrolled movements. Always prioritize your partner's safety.
  8. HYGIENE REQUIREMENTS. Clean body and gear required every class. Trim nails and maintain hygiene.
  1. RASH GUARD. Rash guard required under gi.
  2. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT. Respect teammates, coaches, and facility at all times.
  3. INJURY MANAGEMENT. Notify the coach immediately if injured. Do not train through serious injuries.
  4. NO SHOES ON MATS. Barefoot only. Sandals off the mat.
  5. SPORTSMANSHIP. Train with control and respect. No excessive force or ego.
  6. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. Listen carefully and execute techniques properly.
  7. EARLY DEPARTURE. Notify coach before leaving early.
  8. PARENT CONDUCT. Parents must remain respectful and not interrupt class.

Safety and hygiene rules

BEFORE TRAINING

  • Remove your shoes and store them neatly.
  • Wear sandals around the facility (especially restrooms).
  • Barefoot only on the mats (wrestling shoes allowed).
  • Trim your fingernails and toenails short.
  • Hair and body must be clean.

GEAR MAINTENANCE

  • Clean all gear and clothing after every practice.
  • Dirty or smelly gear means no training.
  • Hang dry your gi to prevent shrinkage and wear.
  • If you or your gear are visibly dirty, sit out.

PERSONAL SAFETY

  • Remove all jewelry and accessories.
  • If it cannot be removed, cover with athletic tape.
  • Sanitize and bandage any open cuts.
  • Re-sanitize after training.

STAY HOME IF…

  • You are sick or someone in your household is sick.
  • You have a skin infection (ringworm, etc.).
  • You have an infected or bleeding wound.

MAT RULES

  • No food or gum on the mats (yes, even if you "just chewed it for a second").

SAFETY & FIRST AID

  • In case of emergency, call 911.
  • If there is blood on the mats, notify an instructor immediately.

Important notice

These rules are in place so everyone has a safe and positive training experience. Violation of these rules may result in temporary suspension or removal from the gym.
